Unusual Restlessness & Shreeking Crying

We slept good last night. Mind you, I think we are cheating as the only way for her to be quiet is to not be on the bassinet but in our bed. I am sure it is breaking all sorts of rules with newborns but I don't care. She loves sleeping between us and it keeps the peace in the house. So it's a win win for all.

She is typically good throughout the day except today.

I had to do a Babies R Us trip today to get her some silicone nipples for her supplemental formula and she threw her first tantrum in public. Nothing would quiet her down. She had been fed at home by mom and I had changed her diaper. And she had plenty of sleep. So all of her basic needs were met.

Maybe she was colicky or maybe just was in a bad mood. Who knows, she couldn't tell me.

But the doctor yesterday did warn us that she is coming up on her first big growth spurt. So maybe it started. It is a time where she will demand a lot more food during this period.

I do have to say that I can't get enough of staring at this child of ours. She is so beautiful. Not in a physical sense but in a being sense. Everything about her has me in awe. Having been right there along my wife for these last nine months and studying and reading about her development. Having been right there when she came into this world. All of those things culminating to the little being that is now depending on us for nutrition and survival is just something you can't write about. It really does transcends any description.

It has not been easy. Far from easy. But going back to that realization brings it home to me. Victoria is our love wrapped up in a little human being. How special is that!

I know full well that we have not lived anything yet as this is only day eleven of her birthday, but we are ready.

I can still remember little Victoria moving restlessly inside of mommy's tummy. Now I know why. She is a restless little girl. Expressive with her face and mostly hands. Those hands will learn to speak full sentences before her vocal cords and mouth ever will. I know it.

I did buy her some gear today while at the store. Of course it had to be pink. I am seeing a whole lot of pink in our near future.

Wed. 6/18/14: Visitors Meeting Victoria

As the settling continues between having a new member of the family and trying to get wife stabilized with the blood pressure thing and the swelling thing, the distractions continue in a good way by way of visitors.

Mom has been the steady loyalist in either bringing us home-cooked meals or coming to make it here at our home. In between cooking of course she takes advantage to bond with her first ever grandkid. So needless to say she is so happy to be a grandmother.

Midday one of the wife's aunts came over with an unbelievable dish. Barbacoa. It was awesome. I will ask her that next time she brings a batch that she make a lot extra so we have leftovers. I will also ask her to come fully fed so she won't dig into our stash! When it comes to food, I am very protective!

The young lady continues to voracious eating. She can't get enough of it. We had a follow up pediatrician visit today along with an appointment with a lactation specialist. In order to meet her appetite demands, we are supplementing her with some formula.

Her belly button is starting to break apart too which is timely the expected schedule when it should fall off. She has bled a little over the last couple days but apparently it's normal.

Late in the evening Victoria had another impromptu baby shower. Several friends came over and showered Victoria with presents. I can get used to this. I think we now have clothing for her to dress like the Kardashians - never having to repeat an outfit every again!

Maricela, Isela, Nadia, and Jesse came over and had great conversation as usual but this time in between feedings, diaper changes, and fussy spouts.

Victoria fit right in. Love that we are raising her to be a social butterfly where she is used to a lot of people being around her and the noise, music and conversation. She pays very close attention to studying all the new arms that hold her and takes in all of their facial features and expressions. She is going to be a quick study!
